The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning replaced the former government's
Department of Environment and Primary Industries, in 2014. The department is tasked
with creating liveable, inclusive and sustainable communities, with a focus on caring
for and protecting the environment, and helping to respond to climate change through
risk mitigation and adaptation strategies.
