The Department of Environment and Science was formed by the amalgamation of the Department
of Environment and Heritage Protection; Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing;
and the Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation. It also incorporates
the Office of the Queensland Chieft Scientist, Arts Queensland and the Corporate Administration
Agency. The Department of Environment and Science recognises the enormous value a
clean environment, innovative society and economy, and vibrant culture makes to our
lives. It was established in December 2017.
