definition The CNR4 is a net radiometer that measures the energy balance between incoming and shortwave IR radiation versus surface reflected shortwave and outgoing longwave IR radiation. The instrument comprises an upward-facing pyranometer/pyrgeometer pair, and a downward facing pair. There is an internal RTD, and a heater to prevent condensation.
